I joined the Air Force after I graduated High School in 1997 and proudly served until 2009. In the beginning of my career I served on active duty as an Aircraft Structural Maintainer. I enjoyed my time working on the flight line, it was hard work but very rewarding. After active duty I joined the Air Force Reserves and cross trained into surgical technology. I was a surgical technologist and then a certified surgical assistant; while in the reserves I worked at a local level 1 trauma center. During my time in the reserves I had two deployments: Kyrgyzstan 2007 and Afghanistan 2009. When I returned from my last deployment I was fortunate to have a position at the College of DuPage as an instructor for their surgical technology and surgical assisting program. I decided to return to school to earn my Bachelors in Psychology which required an internship in a social services department. I started my internship at the WCVAC in 2016 and was hired on as a Veteran Service Officer in 2017. I am grateful to be part of an amazing team that is dedicated to serving all Veterans, this position provides me the opportunity to continue the core value of service before self!
