Kristina McNichol served in the Army from 2003-2006, stationed at Triple Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI. After completing her enlistment she utilized her Post 9/11 GI Bill earning a Bachelors of Science in Organizational, Industrial, & Cultural Psychology. While going to school, she started on her road of helping veterans as a VA Work Study at the Grundy County Veteran Assistance Commission. In 2012 she was hired at the Will County Veterans Assistance Commission and appointed Superintendent less than 1 yr later. From 2013 – 2016 the number of veterans served by the VAC office has increased 10 fold – from 50 veterans per month to nearly 500 veterans. Kristina believes her office’s success is due to her strong team & strong partnerships and collaboration with other organizations in our community.
